A Hong Kong car chase dream...

So last night, I had a dream about being in a car chase through the streets of Hong Kong. It was very much like an action movie such as James Bond or Bourne Identity.

I was in the rear passenger seat traveling with 3 other people in a small compact car - driving through the streets of Hong Kong. I don't remember them as anyone specific - only that we were friends or associates of some kind. Then a black BMW sedan began chasing after us. I looked back and saw someone leaning out of the passenger side window with a gun. I yelled out "Look out!" and ducked down as I began hearing popping sounds and bullets shattering the rear window.

The driver of our car was still driving much too slowly, and I yelled for him to drive faster. But it was too late as a bullet struck him and he slumped over the wheel of the car. I reached foward and grabbed the wheel of the still moving car as the other guys pulled the driver back into the passenger seat. I took the driver seat and distinctly remember the car was stick shift, and I downshifted - gunning the engine to get away from the BMW that was still following and shooting at us from behind.

What followed was a car chase scene worthy of any great action movie.

I began weaving through the streets of Hong Kong in an effort to shake off our assailant. Several times I would turn sharply into small side streets and alleyways that were barely big enough for our car. Once I even drove through an outdoor restaurant courtyard. I honked my horn to warn the people that were eating there, and they jumped out of the way just in time as I smashed through the tables and chairs. My crazy driving seemed to work, and we were eventually able to shake off the black BMW.

We began to turn our attention to our friend who was shot. Frantically I continued to speed through the streets looking for an "H" hospital sign or a red cross hospital sign. Desperate, I stopped the car in front of another group of outdoor diners on a crowded street - yelling for someone to help our wounded friend. Someone stood up and told us he was a doctor, and ordered us to take our friend out of our car and place him on top of the table he was eating at so he could perform CPR.

Now comes the part of the dream that's a little bit strange...

As we began moving the dishes from the table, I noticed how delicious and savory the food the doctor and the people at the table were eating. It looked like a wedding banquet meal - I remember seeing roast duck and even a roast baby piglet covered in sauce. I began to struggle between helping my friend who was shot versus helping myself to some of the food.

It was such a strange struggle - I couldn't imagine myself being hungry and wanting to eat food no matter how good it looks while a friend of mine was shot and in danger of his life.

I've been praying about what this dreams mean, and I think I have an idea of what God is telling me. I might write about it later, but for now I'd like to hear from other people what they think it means to see if it confirms what I think.
